Election Information

The City of Spring Valley Village holds its election on the first Saturday in May of each year. The election for Mayor and two Councilmember positions is held in even-numbered years. The election for three Councilmember positions is held in odd-numbered years. 

The next General Election for the City of Spring Valley Village will be held on May 2, 2026. The election for City Mayor of two Councilmember positions is on the May 2, 2026, ballot. The first day to file for a place on the ballot is January 14, 2025, and ends at 5:00 p.m. on February 13, 2026. Application packets for candidates will be available for pick up at the City Secretary's Office located at 1025 Campbell Road, Houston, TX 77055, starting at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Candidate Qualifications 

The qualifications for the Office of Mayor and City Councilmembers are:

  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Have been a resident of Texas for at least 12 months, as of the deadline for filing for the office
  • Be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected
  • Be 18 years of age or older upon the commencement of the term to be filled at the election
  • Not have been convicted of a felony for which he or she has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities
  • Not have been deemed mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court
  • Candidates for Councilmembers must have resided in the City for at least 6 months before the filing deadline
  • Candidates for Mayor must have resided within the municipal limits for at least 12 months preceding the election day
